To avoid unnecessary waiting, and for optimal assistance, it is important that you always call first and do not turn up at the Emergency Medical Centre (Spoedpost) without an appointment. Have the following information to hand when you call:
- The patient’s personal details
- Identification (Burgerservicenummer, BSN)
- Details of the patient’s healthcare insurer
- Overview of any medication the patient takes
When you call the Emergency Medical Centre
When you call the Emergency Medical Centre (telephone number 0900 8818), you will be connected to a healthcare provider. This healthcare provider is specially trained to determine how urgent your request for help is. If necessary, the healthcare provider will speak to you in English or an interpreter may be asked to translate the conversation.
The healthcare provider will take down your personal details and the details of your request for help. Depending on your request for help:
- You will be given self-care advice over the phone
- A home visit will be arranged
- An appointment with a healthcare provider at the Emergency Medical Centre will be made for further investigation
Where will the appointment take place?
Depending on your request, your place of residence, the day and the time of your call, an appointment will either take place at the Emergency Medical Centre in Venlo or at the GP out-of-hours practice in Venray. These locations have different opening times which can be found at the end of this message.
Please note: you can only go to the Emergency Medical Centre or the GP out-of-hours practice if you have an appointment. Do not turn up at the Emergency Medical Centre or the GP out-of-hours surgery without an appointment.
If you have an appointment at the Emergency Medical Centre, please report to the desk. You will then be seen on the basis of urgency, not in the order of arrival. If necessary, you will be referred to the Emergency Department. If you are in urgent need of medication, you can go to the out-of-hours pharmacy.
